About Upwood Distribution
A logistics base with history in its bones
From a Royal Air Force hangar to a modern third-party logistics operation — Upwood Distribution combines serious infrastructure with a straightforward, people-first way of working.
01 / Our story
From airbase to 3PL operation
RAF Upwood served as an operational Royal Air Force station for the best part of a century. Its hangars were built to house aircraft — vast, solid structures with the kind of clear-span space and hard standing that modern logistics dreams of.
Today, Hangar 2 is home to Upwood Distribution. We took everything the site already did well — scale, security and access — and fitted it out as a contemporary warehouse: high-bay racking, modern handling equipment, COSHH containment cages and the systems to track every pallet and every SKU that passes through the doors.
We set the business up because we kept hearing the same story from growing companies: storage was expensive, contracts were rigid, and the big 3PLs didn’t want to know unless you shipped thousands of orders a day. Upwood Distribution exists for everyone else — businesses that need proper logistics without corporate friction.

03 / How we work
The Upwood standard
Straight talking
Itemised quotes, honest lead times and no small print surprises. If something goes wrong, you hear it from us first — with a fix already in motion.
Accuracy as a habit
Every delivery booked in, checked and located. Regular cycle counts keep stock records true, because a fulfilment partner is only as good as its numbers.
Flexible to a fault
Seasonal peaks, sudden launches, a container arriving early — logistics never sticks to the plan, so neither do our terms. We scale with you.
Your brand, protected
We pack to your spec, with your inserts and your presentation. The customer experience you designed is the one that lands on the doorstep.
Security first
A gated former military site with monitored access. Your stock sleeps behind more protection than most business parks can offer.
A real team
Trained, permanent warehouse staff who know your products by name — not a revolving door of agency labour at peak.
04 / Where we are
Middle of the map, middle of the network
Ramsey sits in the quiet centre of Cambridgeshire — which makes it anything but quiet for logistics. The A1(M) and A14 are minutes away, putting Peterborough, Cambridge, Huntingdon and the Midlands within easy reach, with the M11 corridor running straight down to London and Felixstowe a direct run east for container traffic.
For ecommerce sellers, that means late cut-offs and carriers that collect from our door every working day. For B2B distribution, it means your pallets join the national networks early and arrive on time.

Come and kick the racking
The best way to choose a 3PL is to walk the floor. Book a visit, meet the team and see exactly where your stock would live — no obligation, no hard sell.
